THE BASICS #6: BOLD LIPS

Greetings and welcome to another installment of the Basics. In this series I have explained you all the basic steps in your make up routine. So far we have applied our base, contoured our face, applied our eyeshadow, tackled the eyeliner and we have now come down to applying our lipstick. Last time I showed you some nude options, but today we are going for a bold lip!
Same as with the nude lips, we start of this routine by scrubbing our lips and applying a lip balm. Make sure you do this avant the rest, so your lip balm will be sinked in a bit once you've come to apply your lipstick. Blot of your lip balm with a tissue and let the party begin.

Now, for applying a bold lip (in this case a bold deep red), you start with applying a lipliner. This step is optional but especially handy when you decide to apply a non-matte lipstick formula. Lipliner prevents your lipstick from running and getting into the lines around your lips. It also makes sure your lipstick stays on longer and the color fades more naturally. I start at the cupids bow, and basically make an X.

Once you've lined your lips, it is time to fill them in. I like to do this with a lip pencil. The one I'm using is MAC 316. I start at the cupids bow, then I apply the lipstick along the outsides of my lips and bled it in lightly.

Next step is I blot the lipstick and apply another layer. You can either do this again with a lip pencil, or straight from the tin.

And that's that! By now, you have finished your whole make up look! Every basic step you need to know, is now known! Time for the fun part of make up, time to experiment. By trying out different looks and different combinations you can create beautiful make up looks! Enjoy the fun that make up can be!
